English: It is a Meitei popular cultural illustration of Sangai deer (Cervus eldi eldi) pleading to save him from being killed by human beings. The Sangai deer is often used as a cultural icon of Meitei art and culture. Notably, it is the official state animal of the Government of Manipur. Its last and the only natural habitat is the Keibul Lamjao National Park, which is also the world's only floating national park, known for floating around the Loktak lake. The Sangai deer species are the victims of poaching, due to which the species is considered as an endangered species. Some illustrations in Meitei popular culture portray the deer saying "Eibu Amukta Kanbiyu" (literally meaning "Please save me" or "Please rescue me" in Meitei language).
